Director, DMPK

Position summary:

In this role, you will lead the design, execution, and interpretation of in vitro and in vivo DMPK studies, directly driving our groundbreaking drug development programs. You’ll develop and implement DMPK strategies, collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including Chemistry, Pharmacology, Toxicology, and Pathology, and manage external partnerships to ensure the success of our projects. This is a unique chance to shape the DMPK function at Neomorph, contributing directly to the development of novel therapies for unmet medical needs. 


What You’ll Do: 

  • Lead and Strategize:  Design, execute, and interpret in vitro and in vivo DMPK studies to support our cutting-edge drug development programs. Develop and implement DMPK strategies for early preclinical drug discovery and development. Lead the implementation of in-house capabilities as we build our development organization. 
  • Collaborate:  Work hand-in-hand with cross-functional groups including chemistry, pharmacology, toxicology, pathology, CMC and early clinical to integrate DMPK data seamlessly into our projects. 
  • Provide Expertise:  Share your knowledge in ADME (Absorption, Distribution, Metabolism, and Excretion), pharmacokinetics, and bioanalytical methods within our cross-functional project teams. 
  • Manage Partnerships:  Oversee external CROs (Contract Research Organizations) for DMPK studies, ensuring high quality protocol development, study monitoring, and data review and interpretation. 
  • Communicate:  Prepare and present DMPK data and reports to project teams, senior management, and external stakeholders. Author and review relevant sections of regulatory documents. 
  • Stay Current and Innovate:  Keep up with the latest advancements in the DMPK field and bring new technologies and methodologies to our projects.  

  

Required qualifications:

  • PhD in Pharmacokinetics, Drug Metabolism, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related field with 12 years, MS with 15+ years or BS with 18+ years of relevant experience.
  • Significant industry experience in DMPK with a strong focus on early preclinical drug development. Excellent analytical skills with demonstrated expertise in clinical candidate selection and development of small molecules. 
  • Knowledgeable:  Deep understanding of ADME, pharmacokinetics, and bioanalytical techniques. 
  • Versatile and adaptable:  Proven experience in a small company or startup environment. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Able to juggle multiple projects and adapt to changing priorities seamlessly. 
  • Innovative:  Ability to design, execute, and interpret DMPK studies creatively and effectively. Willing and enthusiastic to build internal DMPK team as we grow. 
  • Collaborative:  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, thriving in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. 
  • Organized:  Highly organized and detail-oriented, with exceptional problem-solving and communication skills. 


Preferred qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Phoenix WinNonlin highly desired.  
  • PBPK modeling knowledge is a plus.
