Corporate Controller
Position overview:
We are seeking a hands-on, experienced Controller to lead Neomorph’s accounting and financial planning & analysis (FP&A) functions. This is a highly visible and impactful role that will help shape and scale our financial infrastructure, ensure accuracy in reporting, and drive strategic decision-making across the business.
The ideal candidate is a CPA with biotech industry experience, strong technical accounting skills, and the ability to manage both day-to-day operations and forward-looking financial planning. Experience with clinical trials, as well as FP&A support for R&D programs is highly preferred.
Responsibilities:
Accounting & Compliance
- Lead all aspects of accounting operations, including GL management, AP/AR, payroll, expense reporting, and monthly close
- Prepare GAAP-compliant financial statements and ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
- Maintain and improve internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures to support a growing organization
- Oversee audit preparation and coordinate with external auditors to ensure successful annual audits
- Manage financial systems, including ERP (NetSuite preferred), and identify opportunities for automation and process improvement
Collaborations & Revenue Recognition
- Partner cross-functionally with Legal, Business Development, and Project Management to assess contract terms and ensure appropriate treatment under ASC 606
- Track collaboration-related cash flows and revenue recognition, and support forecasting and strategic planning related to partnerships
Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)
- Lead FP&A activities in partnership with the CFO, including budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning
- Develop models to support scenario planning, clinical trial forecasting, and headcount/resource planning
- Collaborate with department heads to manage budgets, understand variances, and align resources with strategic priorities
- Prepare monthly reporting packages for leadership, Board, and investors, with insights into key drivers and trends
- Provide finance business partnership to R&D and G&A teams, ensuring alignment of financial and operational plans
Equity & Stock Option Management
- Manage Neomorph’s equity program, including administration of stock option grants, exercises, and terminations in coordination with legal and external equity administrators
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date cap table records
- Support 409A valuations, audit requirements, and equity reporting
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and relevant tax and securities regulations
- Prepare equity-related data for Board reporting and investor communications
Required qualifications:
- Active CPA license required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; Master’s or MBA a plus
- 12+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience, including experience in a high-growth biotech or life sciences environment
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, internal controls, and technical accounting issues, particularly ASC 606
- Proven track record in both accounting and FP&A, including clinical-stage planning and collaboration-related revenue
- Proficient in financial systems and tools (e.g., ERP systems, Excel, financial planning software)
- Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and excellent attention to detail
- Collaborative, adaptable, and comfortable operating in a start-up environment
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally and influence at all levels
