Sr. Scientist, Biology
Our Ideal Candidate:
You are an experienced discovery biologist with a passion for drug discovery and a proven record of supporting projects from the bench through the design and generation of robust, decision-making data packages addressing key project-related questions. You have experience with routine molecular and cell biology approaches including high-throughput plate-based cellular assays, cell line engineering (e.g. CRISPR/RNAi, lentiviral transductions, plasmid cloning), qPCR, and western blotting. You thrive in a highly collaborative, fast-paced, and multidisciplinary research environment.
Responsibilities:
- Drive projects from the earliest stages to clinical development through strategic prioritization of parallel efforts and technical execution of necessary experiments.
- Lead the development and execution of project-specific cellular assays to define target mechanisms of action, assess markers of pharmacodynamic response, and identify relevant patient populations.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to advance molecular glue degradation programs from early hit validation through hit-to-lead campaigns and lead optimization.
- Establish effective screening funnels to support SAR advancement through the design, development, and execution of cellular and/or biochemical assays.
- Actively participate in new target nomination/identification that leverages unique aspects of the molecular glue degrader modality.
- Proactively integrate new information from literature into the overall project strategy.
- Communicate science and strategy effectively in a variety of internal and external settings
Required Qualifications:
- PhD or MD/PhD in Molecular Biology, Pharmacology, or a relevant biological science
- 4+ years of relevant industry experience in a pharmaceutical/biotech environment
- Demonstrated experience advancing preclinical drug discovery efforts including evaluation of novel targets/pathways for therapeutic potential or characterization of molecules in relevant disease models
- Experience with cell line engineering including lentiviral transduction, CRISPR, and RNAi
- Experience with routine molecular biology assays including western blotting and PCR
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Desire and capacity to participate in a dynamic and fast-paced research setting
- Desire and capacity to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with targeted protein degradation is highly desirable
- Experience working with large datasets is a plus
- Proficiency with plasmid cloning
